Mahoning Valley unemployment rises slightly in November


YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley’s nonseasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose by 0.2 percent in November.

The rate for all three counties, Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull, came in at 5.8 percent compared with 5.6 percent in November 2014, according to figures released today by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The number of unemployed went from 14,200 in November 2014 to 14,500 in November 2015.

The number of employed went from 238,200 down to 235,400.

Ohio’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 4.5 percent in November 2015, up from 4.4 percent in October. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 9,900 over the month, from a revised 5,427,100 in October to 5,437,000 in November.
