Youngstown police find drugs after traffic stop


YOUNGSTOWN — Police found suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia on a woman during a traffic stop Saturday night.

Nicole Walton, 38, of Youngstown, was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a drug-abuse instrument and obstructing official business.

Reports said Walton was the driver of a car that was pulled over about 9:35 p.m. at Cleveland and Hillman avenues on the South Side for running a stop sign. She told police she did not have her license with her but gave them a Social Security number. Reports said she acted nervous so she was asked if officers could search her car and she said yes.

Police found a needle sticking out of the pocket of her sweat shirt, along with a burnt spoon with suspected heroin residue suspected heroin inside two pill bottles that were in her car, reports said.
