Thefts reported in Austintown, property later found nearby

AUSTINTOWN — Two reports of thefts from vehicles resulted in a possible discovery of the missing items. Officers responded to a call on South Saratoga Avenue on Sunday morning. The victims reported stolen Christmas presents. The items were sitting in plain view in the front seat of the car, and no evidence of forced entry was found.

Officer Robert Hutch reported an additional call around the same time about a theft from unlocked auto on North Beacon Drive. Officers recovered several stolen items in a neighbor’s yard, and advised the victims to go there to possibly identify the missing items.
