Natalie Scarsella became the bride of Alex Friend at 1:30 p.m. July 25 in a ceremony at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

The Rev. Phil Rogers and Deacon Mike Kocjancic officiated.

A reception followed at the Lake Club in Poland.

The bride is the daughter of Richard Scarsella and Debra Mettee of Boardman. Parents of the groom are James and Jill Friend of New Albany, Ohio.

The bride wore a diamond white gown of satin with a sweetheart neckline that featured crystal accents at her waist.

Justine Cullen was honor attendant for the bride. Bridesmaids were Melissa Mettee, the bride’s cousin; Ashley and Alyson Friend, the groom’s sisters; Corrie Crump; Marissa Wilkinson; Jennifer Skaggs; and Olivia LaPansee. Flower girls were Isabelle Wheeler, the groom’s cousin, and Daniela Mendel, the bride’s cousin. The attendants wore mist gray chiffon dresses.

Scott Uram performed duties of best man, and designated as an honorary best man was the late Gregory Smith. Groomsmen included Bill Mettee, cousin of the bride; Kyle Moose, nephew of the groom; Jeff Mable; Chase Seemann; Jay Burkhart; and Eric Croak. The groom’s nephew, Kaden Moose, was ring bearer.

The bride-earned bachelor’s degrees in multi-age education and Spanish from the University of Toledo. She is a Spanish teacher for Canal Winchester Schools in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

Mr. Friend, also a University of Toledo graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. He is a fire and theft claims specialist for Nationwide Insurance in Columbus.

The couple traveled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for their honeymoon, and have made their home in New Albany.
