Hubbard’s Hill brushes aside Big Ten, picks Pitt
By Brian Dzenis
Hubbard running back George Hill has verbally committed to the University of Pittsburgh. The Eagles’ senior announced his college choice on Twitter on Friday.
“After talking with my family and coaches. I have decided to become a student athlete at the University of Pittsburgh,” Hill tweeted.
The announcement ends a recruiting circus that began with him committing to Ohio State, but then de-committing from the Buckeyes in mid-October. For almost two months, there was speculation Hill wanted to join former teammate L.J. Scott at Michigan State, but now it appears there will be no reunion of “Thunder and Lightning.”
That was the nickname the pair went by at Hubbard. Hill rushed for 1,006 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2015 as Hubbard went 6-4, missing the postseason.
Pitt is coached by former Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, an Ursuline High graduate
According to ESPN, Hill is considered to be a four-star prospect and among the top 10 players in Ohio this year.
Hill also had offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Kentucky and Cincinnati.
