STRUTHERS

The Struthers Little Wildcat cheerleaders recently accepted a biggest donor prize for raising $5,000 for the 15th annual Zeta Tau Alpha Pink Ribbon Cheer Classic held at Youngstown State University on Oct. 25. The event is a cheer and dance exhibition whose proceeds support breast cancer awareness, research and education. Since its inception in 2001, the event has raised over one million dollars.

The Wildcats, who range in age from kindergarten through seventh grade, raised the money through bank sales and fundraisers throughout their season. They also were recognized at the event with a community awareness award and a first-place prize for best awareness banner.

Tassee Torreance, a mother and friend of the Little Wildcats organization, was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer. Torreance was escorted during the survivor ceremony at the Cheer Classic by a group of Wildcat cheerleaders. A donation was also made in her name.

The girls celebrated their prize with a ceremony on Dec. 12 at their practice field, 48 E. Haywood Ave. Each cheerleader received a “Biggest Donor” hooded sweatshirt. The Little Wildcats are advised by Barb Horvath.
