Poland Union Elementary School hosted a Breakfast with Santa event on Dec. 5. Pancakes were served along with pictures with Santa.

Around 500 people attended the pancake breakfast to eat, write letters to Santa and then get a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The students of Poland Union created their own place mats to use while they ate breakfast with their friends and families. There were pancakes, donated by Perkins, and sausage, donated by Beau Weaver, for the families to enjoy.

The PTO put this event together for the second year in a row. Nearly 25 people volunteered their time to help make the event run smoothly, while 12 of the PTO moms made about 1,000 pancakes all throughout the morning.

After eating their breakfast, the children went to the gym to write letters to Santa. When they finished their letters, they had the opportunity to give their letters to Santa and Mrs. Clause and get a picture.

Kohl’s Associates in Action was asked to help out during the pancake breakfast. Five associates from Kohl’s attend different non-profit events and volunteer. When the event was over, Kohl’s donated $500 to Poland Union as a thank you for allowing Kohl’s to help. This money is going to be used to add a 55 gallon sea salt aquarium to the Poland Union library.

“Not only do we get to be part of the community, it gives us a chance to give back to the community,” said Phylllis Manack, a member of Kohl’s Associates in Action. “Its a way to say thank you for supporting our store.”

Poland Union and the PTO had a great time during the breakfast and are hoping to keep the tradition going.
