The Austintown library hosted a Grinch Who-liday event on Dec. 5. The event offered food, movies and various activities.

Ashley Potopovich led the event with help from a Poland librarian, Jennifer.

Grinch dust was available for the children to take home. This dust was for them to sprinkle in their grass to help keep the Grinch away from their homes and to prevent him from stealing their Christmas celebration.

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was the movie played for the children to watch as they participated in all of the various activities set out for them, including reindeer toss in which children threw hoops in an effort to get them onto the reindeer antlers.

The children had the opportunity to create their own Grinch masks to wear. They also made a “sugar Christmas tree” out of ice cream cones, frosting and other candies. Then when the children and their families got hungry, a table was set up with different drinks and snacks.

The Grinch himself made a special appearance at the Who-liday event. This allowed the children to dress up and use different props to get a picture with him.

The Austintown library hosts various holiday events and children programs for the families to enjoy. The library provides a location where friends and families can get together for a fun and educational experience.
