URGENT | Boardman trustees approve demo of house destroyed in fire

BOARDMAN — Township trustees voted at an emergency meeting today to demolish the house at 5731 Border Ave. that was destroyed in a fire Wednesday.

Township officials are looking to demolish the structure as early as Friday. Fire Chief Mark Pitzer cited a risk of collapse as the imminent need to tear down the house.

That fire, which occurred shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday, killed one person.

Reports from the State Fire Marshal and the Mahoning County Coroner's office are pending.
