Holiday fashion history lecture

Jessica Trickett will give a presentation titled “Seasonal Style: A History of Holiday Fashion” at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Arms Family Museum Carriage House, 648 Wick Ave.
Trickett is the director of collections of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society. She will discuss holiday fashions from 19th-century party dresses to the 21st-century Christmas sweater.
The progression of the Santa Claus suit from the early St. Nick to the modern day will be shown. A 1960s Mrs. Claus outfit from the MVHS’s collection, as well as photos, will be shown.
The lecture is included in the price of admission for the Memories of Christmas Past exhibition at the Arms museum, which features seven period rooms decorated with vintage decorations.
Hours for the museum are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday and noon to 7 p.m. Thursdays. The museum will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Admission is $7 ($6 for seniors, and $5 for children age 3 to 18).
