Screenings are in the lower level of M Gallery, 112 W. Commerce St., downtown. The short film “Snow Day,” by Mahoning Valley-based comedy troupe Bullskit Productions, will precede “Gremlins.”

Tickets are $8 at youngstown-cinema.com and at Joe Maxx Coffee, downtown; and $10 at the door.

There will be an after-party following the 8:45 p.m. screening at The Federal, 10 W. Federal St.

In “Gremlins,” directed by Joe Dante, a salesman goes looking for a special gift for his son and finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the “mogwai” but does so with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens, and the result is an outbreak of gremlins that tear up the town on Christmas Eve.
