Jae’Sean Tate scored 17 and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Keita Bates-Diop had 14 points and 10 boards to lead Ohio State. Trevor Thompson scored 10 for the Buckeyes (5-5). Marin Maric had a career-high 17 points for Northern Illinois (7-2) and Marshawn Wilson scored 16. Tate gave the Buckeyes the lead for good on a 3-point play and Kam Williams followed with a 3-pointer to start a 10-2 run that made it 54-46 with 7:32 left. Northern Illinois trailed by at least seven the rest of the way. Marin Maric scored a career-high 17 and grabbed nine rebounds for the Huskies, who shot a season-low 26.8 percent (15 of 56) from the field, including 5 of 18 from 3-point range. Marshawn Wilson added 16 points.

Cleveland State 60, Loyola of Chicago 54

CHICAGO

Andre Yates scored 14 points, Daniel Levitt added 12 on four 3-pointers — both career highs — and Cleveland State rallied to beat Loyola of Chicago in a game that featured eight lead changes and six ties. Donte Ingram put Loyola on top 42-41 with a layup with 6:41 to play, but Tim Hasbargen and Levitt each made 3-pointers and the Vikings led 47-42 with 4:12 to go. Loyola’s Milton Doyle tied it at 47 with a free throw, then Jibri Blount made two free throws and Levitt hit another 3 amid a 7-2 run and the Vikings led 54-48. The Ramblers got no closer than four the rest of the way. Blount scored a career-high 11 points and Demonte Flannigan added 10 for the Vikings (3-7).

Duquesne 83, South Carolina State 68

PITTSBURGH

Micah Mason scored 20 points and added four assists to help lead Duquesne. Mason hit 7 of 12 from the field, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range. Derrick Colter finished with 18 points and seven assists and Jeremiah Jones added 16 points for the Dukes (9-2), who have won six of their last seven games. South Carolina State scored 10 of the game’s first 14 points and led 39-38 at halftime. With the score tied at 49 with 15:41 left Duquesne went on a 16-6 run, capped by a Jones 3-pointer, to take a 65-55 lead.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.

Brice Johnson had a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds, and North Carolina beat Tulane. Marcus Paige added 16 points and Justin Jackson had 13. The Tar Heels (8-2) won their first game without injured big man Kennedy Meeks and bounced back from a last-second loss at Texas that knocked them out of the top 10. Joel Berry II had 12 points and Isaiah Hicks finished with 11 for North Carolina, which never trailed, shot 50 percent and built a 43-33 rebounding advantage. Louis Dabney scored 18 points for Tulane (6-5).

No. 16 Baylor 104, Hardin-Simmons 59

FORT HOOD, TEXAS

Johnathan Motley had 23 points and Baylor beat Hardin-Simmons in the first regular-season college basketball game played at Fort Hood, one of the nation’s largest Army posts. Rico Gathers had 20 points for the Bears (8-1). Cameron Barnes had 11 points for Division III Hardin-Simmons (6-5). Fort Hood covers 340 square miles, with more than 40,000 soldiers living on the post about an hour from the Baylor campus in Waco. The game was closed to the general public, but 1,600 free tickets were distributed to soldiers and their families.

No. 18 SMU 86, Nicholls State 42

DALLAS

Ben Moore had 22 points and 15 rebounds as SMU started fast and routed Nicholls State. The short-handed Mustangs (8-0) took a 12-0 lead and kept pulling away. SMU used its seven available players, including one walk-on, with three players out with injuries. Freshman Shake Milton tied his season high with 20 points, and Jordan Tolbert had 18 points and a career-high 23 rebounds. T.J. Carpenter led the Colonels (3-6) with 12 points.

No. 19 Louisville 94, Kennesaw State 57

LOUISVILLE, KY.

Damion Lee scored 18 points and Louisville used another strong shooting performance to beat Kennesaw State. The Cardinals (8-1) shot 59 percent (40 of 68). They have shot over 50 percent in eight of their nine games, matching their total for all of last season. Yonel Brown led Kennesaw State (3-9) with 19 points.
