URGENT: Ohio congressmen secure funding for YARS

YOUNGSTOWN — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, today announced they have secured $9.4 million in the 2016 federal government funding bill for upgrade to the Youngstown Air Reserve Station's indoor firing range.

The air base is located in Vienna Township in Trumbull County.

The funding bill also includes $3.3 million for the Ravenna Joint Military Training Center for a modified record fire range.

"This money gives our airmen and soldiers the resources and training facilities they need to remain combat-ready and complete their missions," Ryan said in a news release.

“This funding will allow YARS to make needed improvements to its indoor firing range so that the men and women at YARS can test their skills during training.," Brown said in his new release.
