Assistance for laid-off workers

youngstown

On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, announced the certification petition for Trade Adjustment Assistance for laid-off workers at Parker Hannifin Corp. in Youngstown, who engaged in activities related to the production of hydraulic-gear pumps.

TAA will assist workers in their search for re-employment through income support, training, assistance with health care premium costs, employment and case-management services, and may include job search and relocation allowances.

In October, the United Steel Workers and Cleveland-based Parker Hannifin came to an agreement on a shutdown package for the company’s hydraulic-gear pump plant in Youngstown, a USW representative said Monday.
