Agreement to postpone pretrial hearings in the Robert Seman case

YOUNGSTOWN

Prosecutors and defense attorneys have agreed to postpone pretrial hearings in the Robert Seman case.

Seman, 46, could face the death penalty if convicted of the murders of Corrine Gump, and her grandparents, William and Judith Schmidt, in an arson March 30 at their Powers Way home.

Judge Maureen Sweeney in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court has been conducting monthly pretrial hearings in advance of the September 2016 trial.

But co-defense counsel Lynn Maro will miss at least one pretrial hearing in March because she is representing one of the defendants in the Oak Hill corruption case in Cleveland.

Because of the conflict, Judge Sweeney agreed to postpone the pretrials when Maro is in trial.
