MEN

No. 4 Iowa State 78, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 64

AMES, IOWA

Jameel McKay scored 18 points with eight rebounds as No. 4 Iowa State held off Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Matt Thomas had 17 points in his first start of the season for the Cyclones (9-0). They rested guard Naz Mitrou-Long, who is still working his way back from offseason surgery to repair both hips. The Golden Lions (2-8) hung around for about 35 minutes against an Iowa State team three days removed from an emotional 83-82 win over rival Iowa.

No. 9 Villanova 76, La Salle 47

VILLANOVA, PA.

Josh Hart scored 18 points and Ryan Arcidiacono had 14 to lead No. 9 Villanova. The Wildcats (8-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season, 78-55 to No. 7 Oklahoma last Monday. They hit 13 3-pointers and had 24 assists on 28 baskets and again flexed their muscle as the class of Philadelphia basketball. The Wildcats have won 12 straight games in the Big 5, round-robin play among five Philadelphia Division I basketball teams that dates to 1955.

No. 13 Arizona 88, Missouri 55

TUCSON, ARIZ.

Mark Tollefsen scored 17 points and Gabe York added 16 for No. 13 Arizona. Arizona (9-1) made easy work of Missouri (5-4), racing out to an 11-point lead in the opening minutes and pushing it to 19 by halftime. Even with 7-foot center Kaleb Tarczewski (foot) out for his fifth straight game, the Wildcats dominated the smaller Tigers inside.

No. 14 West Virginia 100, Louisiana-Monroe 58

MORGANTOWN, W.VA.

Jevon Carter scored 21 points and No. 14 West Virginia reached triple digits for the third time in nine games this season. Daxter Miles Jr. added 18 points for the Mountaineers (8-1), who put five players in double figures following a 70-54 loss to No. 10 Virginia at the Jimmy V Classic in New York. West Virginia used a flurry of 3-pointers to open a 31-11 lead and was never threatened. The Mountaineers went 15 for 36 from long range and held Louisiana-Monroe to 1 for 8.

WOMEN

No. 2 South Carolina 86, Winthrop 37

COLUMBIA, S.C.

Alaina Coates scored a career-best 29 points, pulled down 16 rebounds and set a school record with 10 blocks to lead No. 2 South Carolina. The Gamecocks (9-0) never trailed, scoring 14 straight points after Winthrop (2-7) tied the game at 2-2. The Eagles couldn’t handle South Carolina’s size.

No. 4 Baylor 105, McNeese State 46

WACO, TEXAS

Niya Johnson set a Baylor record with 19 assists to go with her 10 rebounds, freshman post Beatrice Mompremier had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Baylor. Kalani Brown, another freshman post, had 24 points on 10-of-11 shooting for the Lady Bears (10-0).

No. 5 Texas 77, No. 14 Stanford 69

AUSTIN, TEXAS

Senior Empress Davenport scored a career-best 23 points for No. 5 Texas. Davenport made consecutive jump shots to give the Longhorns an 11-point lead at the end of the third quarter. Brooke McCarty scored 12 points for Texas, and Celina Rodrigo added 11.

No. 8 Kentucky 68, Middle Tennessee 52

MURFREESBORO, TENN.

Makayla Epps scored 17 points and Maci Morris and Taylor Murray added 10 each as the eighth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats routed Middle Tennessee to remain undefeated. The Wildcats (9-0) are two wins shy of matching their 11-0 start to the 2013-14 season, and they used their depth in adding their latest victory.

No. 9 Mississippi State 93, Louisiana Tech 63

RUSTON, LA.

Victoria Vivians scored a season-high 36 points, including 28 in the first half, to lead Mississippi State. Vivians, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard, was nearly unstoppable as the Bulldogs built a 53-25 halftime lead. She shot 10 of 13 from the field during the first half, including 7 of 10 from 3-point range.

No. 10 Ohio State 89, North Carolina A&T 56

COLUMBUS

Kelsey Mitchell scored 22 points to lead No. 10 Ohio State. The Buckeyes (6-3) took control with an early 15-0 run. Ameryst Alston had 20 points, and Alexa Hart added 14 for the Buckeyes. Kala Green scored 17 points to lead the Aggies (3-6), while Aprill McCrae had 12 and Adriana Nazaro added 10. One Ohio State starter, one reserve and an assistant coach missed the game while serving one-game suspensions. Starting forward Shayla Cooper and reserve guard Chelsea Mitchell sat for what was termed conduct detrimental to the team, while assistant coach Mark Mitchell missed the game for what was termed a personnel issue. Kelsey Mitchell and Chelsea Mitchell are sisters, and Mark is their father. Redshirt freshman Makayla Waterman started in place of Cooper and had three points and five rebounds.

No. 12 Northwestern 81, Loyola of Chicago 72

CHICAGO

Christen Inman scored 25 points, including six in a 10-0 surge in the fourth quarter, to lift Northwestern. The Ramblers (2-6) gave the Wildcats (9-0) a battle, leading 34-30 at the half in a game that had nine ties and 11 lead changes.

No. 17 Oklahoma 80, Texas San Antonio 41

NORMAN, OKLA.

Freshman Gabbi Ortiz made six 3-pointers and scored a season-best 22 points, and the Sooners got their eighth victory in a row. Ortiz and Peyton Little made back-to-back 3-pointers early in a decisive third quarter that Oklahoma controlled 27-9.

No. 20 UCLA 86, Michigan 77

ANN ARBOR, MICH.

Monique Billings scored a career-high 20 points with 11 rebounds and No. 20 UCLA won a rematch from last season’s WNIT semifinal. Billings was 6 of 11 from the field and made 8 of 10 free throws. Nirra Fields scored 22 points on 10-of-21 shooting for UCLA (5-2).

No. 21 South Florida 66, Chattanooga 33

TAMPA, FLA.

Courtney Williams had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Alisia Jenkins set a school record for career rebounds for No. 21 South Florida. Jenkins needed 10 rebounds to break Wanda Guyton’s record of 1,077 set in 1989 and grabbed 12.

No. 25 Michigan State 82, Oakland 62

ROCHESTER, MICH.

Jasmine Hines scored a career-high 21 points and the Spartans won their third straight. Hines made 7 of 9 shots. She scored 12 points in the first half which ended with the Spartans (7-2) leading 43-30.
