Youngstown Chapter of the Links marks friendship month

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Chapter of the Links Inc. celebrated Friendship Month this November with several activities.

The Links national organization designates November as Friendship Month, and each of the group’s 282 chapters is asked to perform several activities to demonstrate acts of friendship and service.

The Youngstown Chapter’s activities included a meet, eat and enjoy social gathering at Charlie Staples BBQ Restaurant for members and their families.

A group of Links members also gathered to serve Sunday dinner at the Salvation Army. Each member purchased and donated 20 items of toiletries that were given to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, as well as donated a gift for the mothers of female children who are residents of Beatitude House.

Friendship Month activities culminated with a reception after a friendship ceremony at the group’s November meeting.

The Youngstown Chapter is hosting its 14th annual gift-giving luncheon today.

Guests will take an unwrapped toy to be given to a child between 2 and 12 years old. Toys will be given to a designated social service facility that houses mothers and children who are under served.

Lenora Hill is committee chairwoman, and Anne R. Cobbin is club president.
