Truharn, McBride collaborate for book

Authors Greg Truhan and James McBride, who are Youngstown natives, have collaborated to write a book on school shootings, “K-PhD School and Campus Shootings Awareness,” released by Kendall Hunt Publishing Co.

The authors have a combined 70 years of law enforcement and academic expertise. Truhan retired in 2008 after 22 years as a special agent with the Secret Service, serving as the lead protective intelligence coordinator and threat assessment investigator for the Cleveland Field Office. For the past eight years, he has been a professor and the program director of the criminal justice program at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland.

McBride was the chief of the Lakeland Community College Police Department for 28 years, retiring in 2010.

The authors met as officers in the Youngstown Police Department.

The book addresses the preventability of mass shootings directed at victims in learning environments at all levels.

A portion of the proceeds from the book will benefit the Federal Law Enforcement Association foundation to help officers in need.

Copies of the book can be purchased at www.kendallhunt.com/McBride_Truhan.
