The third TEDxYoungstown will take place Jan. 22 in the Ford Theater located in Bliss Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University. The theme for the independently organized event, licensed by TED, is “Movement.”

There will be 12 speakers at the 2016 event. Topics to be explored range from artificial intelligence to addiction, and the event will include one musical performance and one performance-art piece. Employee safety

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a New Employee Safety Orientation seminar from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road.

Tim Herrmann and Brian Moats, safety managers at JMC Steel Group, will present their new-hire orientation process. The industry experts will share the essential elements of effective new employee safety orientation.

Job-skills workshop

YOUNGSTOWN

The YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., will have a free job- skills workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 12- 29. The four-week workshop is open to all men and women age 18 and older.

There are 12 classes in the workshop. Topics covered include career assessment and exploration, resume writing and interviewing, job stability, increasing income and financial literacy.

Those who attend all sessions qualify for a $100 incentive. There also are additional follow-up sessions that allow participants to qualify for another $100 incentive.

Holiday mixer

Food drive

AUSTINTOWN

TCC, the largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer in the U.S., will collect canned and boxed foods from customers and community members to provide to local partnering food banks at 550 of its stores. Goods will be collected through Monday. Each store has a goal of donating 50 pounds of food, which will be delivered to local hunger- relief organizations nationwide Tuesday.

The participating store in Austintown is located at 5507 Mahoning Ave.
