Spouse: Dorothy Turchan Pizzuto. They were married July 21, 1945, and celebrated their 70th anniversary this summer.

Children: Josephine (John) Dyer of Newton Falls and Janet (Frank) Slovasky of Liberty; Jerry Pizzuto is deceased.

Grandchildren: Melissa Ann Marx of Gilbert, Ariz., and Sara Lynn Belle of Columbus.

BACKGROUND

Education: Graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He took a two-year leadership course at South High School, night classes and weekly workshops at Kent State, Ohio State and Ohio University.

Employment: He worked at United Engineering as lathe operator and at Pennsylvania Railroad as locomotive fireman. He retired from Commercial Intertech as a jig and fixture maker after 40 years.

Memberships: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Vestibule Club, Senior Citizens, United Steelworkers of America and Commercial Intertech Retirees.

ADDITIONAL INTERESTS

Other information/lifestyle: He was active in Steelworkers Union at Commercial Intertech, and was elected to various positions in the local union, including three terms as president. He assisted in the organization of the Commercial Intertech Retirees group, and has served as its president since it was chartered in 1993. He was head of the adult altar servers at Mount Carmel for 28 years. His hobby is woodworking. He is an active Liberty resident, and attends trustee meetings and has served on the zoning board for seven years.
