Submit details on Christmas services

The Vindicator will publish a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

The list will run on the Religion page Dec. 19.

The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Information should include the denomination and complete name of the church, address, city or suburb and time of Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day services. The information should be accompanied by a name and a phone number for verification or any questions.

Lessons and carols

CANFIELD

A service of lessons and carols is planned at 10:15 a.m. Dec. 20 at Lord of Life Church, 550 N. Broad St. The service includes Bible readings and Advent carols, which will be sung by the Sanctuary Choir and congregation.

A brunch will follow in the church hall. All are welcome.

Christmas cantata

YOUNGSTOWN

The choir of Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., will present a multimedia Christmas cantata, “Hark the Angels Sing,” during the worship service at 10:45 a.m. Dec. 20.

The cantata will feature narration, solos and the choir telling the story from the angels’ viewpoint of the birth of Jesus. There also will be musical selections presented by the children’s choir, Grace Notes!

Live Nativity

NILES

New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., will present a live Nativity from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 20.

Hot chocolate and cookies will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Christmas pageant

BOARDMAN

Boy Scouts from Boardman will transfer the International Peace Light to Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service that will include a St. Lucia celebration and children’s Christmas pageant.

The church is hosting the International Peace Light and making it available to the public. Those interested in having the peace light may come to the church between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, through Dec. 23 and Dec. 29 and 30. Windproof candle-holders or lanterns are good tools to transport the light.

For information, call the church office at 330-758-5745. This is the fifth year that the Greater Western Reserve Boy Scout Council has brought the Peace Light flame to Northeast Ohio.

Bethel Lutheran also will present a Christmas cantata, “Come and Worship,” at 10 a.m. Dec. 20. A fellowship hour will precede the service at 9. Cookies and punch will be served.

POLAND

Gospel Baptist Church, 6235 Clingan Road, will present a Christmas cantata, “The Journey of Christmas,” at the 11 a.m. Sunday service and at a children’s program planned at the 6 p.m. service that day.

Christmas music

HUBBARD

Hubbard Church of the Nazerene, 1815 Cherry Lane Drive SE, will present a Christmas cantata, “The Promised Hope,” at 3 p.m. Dec. 20.

After the hourlong program, there will be a cookie reception in fellowship hall. The event is open to all.
