The Cherry Blossom Riverboat was the setting of the 5 p.m. Oct. 23 ceremony and reception celebrating the marriage of Sarah McCooey and Garrett Schmitz. Pastor Rob Kazee of Mosaic Nazarene Church in Washington, D.C., officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of James and Ruth McCooey of Columbiana. Ted and Cheri Schmitz of Minneota, Minn., are parents of the groom.

Katie McCooey was honor attendant for her sister and Aulaire Schmitz performed honor attendant duties for her brother. Ushers were Daniel and Megan McCooey, the brother and sister-in-law of the bride.

Mrs. Schmitz earned a bachelor’s degree of art from Malone University and a master’s degree of aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. She is a flight attendant out of Denver for United Airlines.

Mr. Schmitz received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He works for Peabody Energy in Gillette, Wyo.

The couple took a Royal Caribbean cruise for a wedding trip, and live in Gillette.
