WARREN

De’Shawn L. Dorsey, 25, of Jefferson Street Southwest, was sentenced to eight years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to charges related to a May 1 gunfight at the BP gas station on East Market Street.

Dorsey pleaded guilty in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to three counts of felonious assault and single counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

The aggravated robbery charge pertains to an incident about 10 minutes after the BP episode. It involved a city woman, 24, who said a man brandished a firearm at the gas pumps at USA Gas Mart, 307 Pine Ave. SE, and took $800 from her purse.

Dorsey was among three men involved in the shootout who suffered gunshot wounds. He was shot in the foot, and other men were shot in the buttocks and arm.

The man shot in the buttocks, John T. Daniel, 22, of Burton Street Southeast, stole Dorsey’s car during the incident, said Mike Burnett, an assistant prosecutor.

The case against Daniel, charging him with similar charges as Dorsey, is pending.
