Caroling program for families, friends

SALEM

Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., is providing an opportunity for families who want to go Christmas caroling Dec. 19.

Two rehearsal sessions with a music director will take place before the caroling. Participants will dress in period clothing from the theater’s wardrobe department. Caroling will be done at supervised locations, and carolers will enjoy refreshments and entertainment by SCT’s performing-arts program upon returning to the theater. There will also be a visit from Santa Claus, bearing gifts.

The aim of the event, directed by SCT instructors Joanna Andrei and Niki Slaven, is to bring families and interested people together in a creative, friendly and fun environment, while celebrating the joy of the season. The cost is $25 for a family of three or more, or $10 for individuals.

Fitch High jazz fest

The Fitch High School Band will present a Holiday Jazz Festival at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 in the school’s auditorium.

The festival will feature the AMS Jazz Band, Fitch Jazz Ensemble 2, and Fitch Jazz Ensemble. All donations will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
