Every month the Boardman library hosts the All About Yarn program. Karen Saunders, a Boardman librarian, oversaw the program on Nov. 20.
Guests join the events and bring any projects they may be working on to continue working on during the meeting time. Crocheting and knitting seem to be the two most poplar techniques.
Those who attend the event are always open to sharing their ideas with one another. Participants share different patterns, books and websites that contain various techniques for knitting and crocheting. New tips and tricks are learned at every meeting, which makes for a new experience each time.
One woman attending taught the others a stitch that she used to create an attention-grabbing blanket.
“It’s just so relaxing. It always makes me relax when I do it,” said Ann, one of the guests.
Some of the members even mentioned that they knit or crochet blankets and other items to donate to the less fortunate, especially during the holiday season. Others work on projects to give to their families throughout the year for different occasions.
Another women attending, Amanda, recently crocheted a blanket for her son, who is in band, for football nights.
“Usually 6-10 people show up, but it’s starting to build so we are excited about that,” said Saunders. “We love it cause we can come and share and it’s fun to see progress.”
