Accident closes portion of I-80

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 for about an hour in Weathersfield Township on Thursday night.

The accident, which involved a truck and other vehicles, occurred near the Salt Springs Road interchange shortly before 9 p.m.

Troopers had no reports of serious injuries.

The crash happened just two hours after the Ohio Department of Transportation reduced westbound traffic on I-80 to one lane just west of Salt Springs Road and state Route 46 as part of a highway construction project, according to 21-WFMJ TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. That lane restriction was scheduled to remain in effect until 6 a.m. today.
