Custodian finds bullet-riddled body near Pa. Catholic school
WILKINSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A custodian has found a man’s bullet-riddled body in the alley just behind a Catholic school in a Pittsburgh suburb.
The Allegheny County medical examiner has yet to release the identity of the body found shortly before 6:30 a.m. today near the rear door of Sister Thea Bowman Catholic Academy in Wilkinsburg.
Police say neighbors reported hearing gun shots just before midnight, but responding police didn’t find a victim.
The school’s principal says the discovery didn’t delay the student’s arrival shortly before 8 a.m.
Pittsburgh diocesan spokeswoman Ann Rodgers says classes were in session and a letter will be sent home to parents so they “will be informed and assisted in comforting and supporting their children.”
Wilkinsburg is known for its crime, and police found drugs at the scene.
