Arson listed as cause of East Side blaze

YOUNGSTOWN — Arson has been ruled as the cause of a blaze about 12:45 a.m. today at an East Side garage and towing yard.

Fire reports said crews were called to the 535 N. Garland Ave. building and found the roof burning and on the verge of collapse.

Reports said the building’s owner told firefighters he had evicted the previous tenants, a towing company, at the beginning of the month.

Reports said the fire started on the roof and the cause of the blaze was listed as “intentional.” Damage is listed at $8,000.
