Struthers man faces DUI charge

STRUTHERS — Police arrested a man for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after his car struck a utility pole while traveling south on Poland Avenue on Monday evening.

Witnesses led police to identify the driver as William Baldelli Jr., 39, of Struthers. A police report states that Baldelli was staggering near the area of the crash and that officers had to support him by the arms to keep him from falling over.

Police said Baldelli failed a series of field-sobriety tests, but declined to give a blood-alcohol content test or to submit a blood sample after being transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Baldelli has five previous convictions for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.
