The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering a rabies vaccination clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield. In Mahoning County, rabies vaccination is required for all dogs, cats and ferrets over 3 months of age. The cost is $6 per shot, cash only. No appointment is necessary.

Pet owners must have their pets on a leash, in a cage, or carried inside a pillowcase. A three-year booster vaccination is available for pet owners who provide proof of a previous shot record that has not expired within the current year.

Individuals can protect themselves and their families from rabies by following these guidelines: Vaccinate pets, maintain control of pets to reduce their exposure to wildlife, spay or neuter to decrease the number of stray animals, avoid contact with wildlife and stray animals, and wash any animal-bite areas thoroughly and follow up with a doctor.
