Boil alert continues
GIRARD
A boil alert, which went into effect Saturday after a water main break, will continue through Friday.
As a precaution, residents should boil water before drinking it or using it for cooking or brushing teeth.
The warning extends to anyone who receives water from the Girard Water Department. In addition to Girard, the department serves parts of Liberty and Weathersfield townships.
Regulators to update residents on odors
LORDSTOWN
State and local regulators will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the administration center, 1455 Salt Springs Road, to update residents on efforts to eliminate nuisance odors originating from the Lordstown Construction Recovery (LCR) Landfill.
Over the past year, the Ohio EPA, the Trumbull County Health Department and the Mahoning-Trumbull Air Pollution Control Agency have received numerous odor complaints from residents living in the vicinity of LCR’s construction and demolition debris landfill at 6205 Palmyra Road in Warren.
Along with frequent monitoring and inspections, the agencies have been working with the facility to correct the problem.
Decorations damaged
BOARDMAN
Over the weekend, township police handled several calls from residents who reported theft and damage to their holiday decorations.
Three reports came from Doncaster Drive residents. One reported that someone knocked over and destroyed decorations in his yard, such as a lighted “Noel” sign, Christmas tree and light-up penguins.
A neighbor reported that Christmas lights had been torn from her bushes, and another resident of the street told police someone had unplugged and pulled strands of lights off an outdoor Christmas tree.
A West Boulevard resident also reported to police that a snowman decoration – donned in a black hat and red scarf – was stolen from her front yard.
