Antal resigns St. Vincent de Paul post
YOUNGSTOWN — Brian Antal has resigned from his volunteer position as president of the president of the Northeast Ohio Diocesan Council of St. Vincent de Paul.
Antal made the announcement Tuesday morning after meeting with The Vindicator Monday afternoon.
"I need to focus my attention on my beautiful family, my health and my career, as I have neglected all three for the good of the society during my tenure," Antal said in a statement.
He has also resigned as president of the Mahoning District of St. Vincent de Paul effective Dec. 16.
The announcement follows a tumultuous period. The society's dining hall was closed last week following the resignation of the former kitchen manager. During that time, several former volunteers and others came forward with concerns over Antal's leadership.
The dining hall is now reopen for lunch on weekdays with a new kitchen manager.
"I am at peace knowing that overall I left the society in a much better position than I took it over in," Antal said.
