Warren man faces multiple charges after Girard pizza parlor crash

GIRARD — A man is facing felony charges after leading police on a car chase and crashing into a Girard pizza shop Sunday.

The report states a Weathersfield police officer signaled for a car to pull over near North State Street for failure to use a turn signal and an active warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The vehicle's driver, Keith Adams, Jr. , 19, of Warren sped up and wove in and out of traffic, driving others cars of the road, the report says.

Adams crashed the car into Melfi and Santangelo Pizza Parlor and Italian Deli at the corner of North State Street and Townsend Avenue after failing to negotiate a turn. Police said that Adams then attempted to run away on foot and reached his hand into his pocket. The officer then used a taser on Adams, the report states.

Police found suspected crack on Adams' person in addition to a handgun and suspected marijuana in his car. Adams is facing charges including failure to comply with the signal of a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana.
