Struthers kids to shop with cops for Christmas
Staff report
STRUTHERS
The Struthers Shop with a Cop program is partnering with local businesses to provide gifts to selected children Sunday.
About 100 children nominated by Struthers City Schools, St. Nicholas School, Struthers Police Department and local community programs will join Struthers police officers for the shopping experience.
Each child will be provided with $100 and partnered with a police officer, firefighter or a community volunteer.
This is the fifth year for the Struthers Shop with a Cop event.
This program, supported by contributions from Struthers businesses, residents, and surrounding communities, allows children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas to buy toys while also developing a positive relationship with law enforcement.
Struthers Arby’s will provide breakfast for the children at AMVETS Post 44, 305 Elm St., at 8 a.m. The children will then be transported by Gold Cross Limousine Service and Jubilee Limousine Service to Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive in Boadman.
The Walmart Foundation has awarded a grant to Struthers Shop with a Cop program.
