‘Secret Daughter’ is book discussion topic

SALEM

The book discussion group of Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will analyze “Secret Daughter” by Shilpi Somaya Gowda at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 in the library’s Quaker room.

The book follows Kavita, who gives birth to a baby girl in a remote village in India and decides to give her up for adoption.

On the other side of the world, an American doctor, Somer, decides to adopt a baby and soon falls in love with Kavita’s baby girl.

The novel explores the intertwining stories of the child, her natural mother and her adoptive mother.

This book is available in the Adult Services Department to borrow. Book discussions are open to the public, and registration is not required.
