AMVETS Post 44, 305 Elm St., is having its annual Pearl Harbor Day program at 11 a.m. Monday at the post home.
Struthers Police Capt. Pat Bundy is the featured speaker. A light lunch will follow the program.

E.J. Blott Elementary School’s Holiday Kids Project is seeking volunteers to help wrap the collected toys, books, games and gift cards from 8:30 a.m. until done Thursday at Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchhill Road.

Thieves steal pastor’s Christmas sermon
LEAVITTSBURG
Thieves stole a computer from a Trumbull County church that had the pastor’s Christmas sermon saved on it, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV.
Police say someone broke into Leavittsburg Church of God on South Leavitt Road and took several items, including a safe containing about $1,000 intended for donations.
Big-screen televisions were located in some bushes near the church, but the money was not found.
The church has since installed a security system and is asking anyone with information to call the police.
Human Rights event

Church Women United will host the 10th annual Human Rights Celebration at 9 a.m. Dec. 12 at Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road. Shirley Megown is president of the Youngstown unit. The theme is “Journey Toward Peace.”
Rose Carter, a Youngstown native, will be honored. She is executive director and lead organizer of Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods. ACTION is a faith-based, grass-roots community organization that seeks to unite faith groups, schools, unions, tenant councils and other nonprofits to work for social justice. She is a licensed elder and an associate minister of Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Youngstown.
