Mass, party honor 50th for Iacones

Mr. and Mrs. Mario Iacone of Austintown were guests of honor at a surprise weekend celebration with family for their 50th wedding anniversary.

A Mass and anniversary blessing took place Sept. 5 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Orlando, Fla.

A family dinner followed at Stonewood Grill in Orlando.

The celebration was hosted by the couple’s daughters and spouses, Christine and Mark Polivka of Chesterfield, Mo.; Carin and Douglas Atkin of Orlando; and Lauren and Michael Houser of Macedonia, Ohio; and grandchildren, Brett, Brooke and Brynne Polivka and Alexander and Benjamin Atkin.

The former Dolores Sklenar and Mr. Iacone were married Aug. 28, 1965, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown.

Mrs. Iacone was a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and Pediatric Associates of Youngstown, retiring in 2003.

Her husband was a mathematics and computer science teacher and occupation work experience coordinator at Austintown Fitch High School. He also worked as occupational work experience coordinator at Canfield High School.

Mr. Iacone served both schools as curriculum coordinator for the Alternative School. He retired in 2007.

The Iacones also operated a wedding photography business from 1975 to 1996.

They are members of St. Christine Church in Youngstown.
