Talmer Bank to make donation to Inspiring Minds in Warren

WARREN — On Dec. 9, Inspiring Minds will receive a $5,000 check from Talmer Bank & Trust and hear a talk by former professional boxer Earnie Shavers of Warren.

The Talmer funding will support Inspiring Minds’ enrichment program, whose goal is to inspire under-served students of all ages to graduate from high school, pursue post-secondary education and become strong, successful members of the society.

Specifically, the money will benefit the education and college and career readiness programs, which aim to improve student grades, provide mentoring, build self-confidence and identify pathways to post-secondary education and career opportunities.

Shavers will also speak that day to high-school students at Inspiring Minds about his career as a professional boxer, being a two-time world heavyweight title challenger and fighting Muhammad Ali, as well as his current passion for inspiring young people to achieve their dreams.
