Human Rights Celebration planned Dec. 12

AUSTINTOWN

Church Women United will host the 10th annual Human Rights Celebration at 9 a.m. Dec. 12 at Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road. Shirley Megown is the president of the Youngstown Unit.

The theme is “Journey Toward Peace.”

Rose Carter, a Youngstown native, will be honored. She is executive director and lead organizer of Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods. ACTION is a faith-based, grassroots community organization that seeks to unite faith groups, schools, unions, tenant councils and other non-profits to work for social justice. She is a licensed elder and an associate minister of Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Youngstown.
