BREAKING NEWS | Elton John to return for third Covelli show in March

YOUNGSTOWN — Elton John and his band will make their third visit to the Covelli Centre for one performance on Tuesday, March 22 at 8 p.m. as part of a nine-city concert tour.

Ticket sales will begin Friday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m.

The tour will feature his iconic hits and classic album tracks as well as songs from his upcoming album “Wonderful Crazy Night.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Sir Elton John back to Youngstown,” said Eric Ryan, general manager of the Covelli Centre. “He has given us the most historic and breathtaking performances, and it will be an absolute honor to have him grace [our] stage again.”

In a press release, Sir Elton said, “I remember Youngstown fondly from my first-ever visit in 2010, and this concert will give me a chance to say thank you to my fans here who have been so faithful over the decades.”

The Hall of Fame rock legend has been focused on shorter tours that have included venues similar to the Covelli in recent years. He followed up the 2010 show with another sold-out Youngstown performance in February 2014.

“The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family and less time touring,” he said. “My sons are growing up so quickly. Their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them.”

The Elton John Band features Nigel Olsson, part of Elton’s original three-piece band, on drums; Davey Johnstone, who first recorded with Elton in 1971, on guitar; John Mahon on percussion; Kim Bullard on keyboards; and Matt Bissonette on bass.
