Youngstown and Mathews schools sign on to OhioCheckbook.com

YOUNGSTOWN

State Treasurer Josh Mandel called Youngstown City and Mathews schools state leaders for their participation in his OhioCheckbook.com initiative.

The initiative sets a standard for government transparency. It was launched last year by Mandel “because I believe taxpayers have the right to know how they tax dollars are being spent,” he said.

The city school board approved a resolution last week to participate in the program, making it the second district in Mahoning County, after South Range, to sign on.

Mathews is the second school district in Trumbull County, behind Newton Falls, to participate.

Austintown and Milton townships in Mahoning County were recognized for their participation and Howland, Liberty and Bazetta townships are the first Trumbull County townships to partner with the program.
