BOYS BASKETBALL

Struthers 65, Edgewood 63

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP

Andrew Carbon scored 32 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, and the Wildcats stormed from behind and closed with a 14-1 run to win their opener. Carbon had six of the Wildcats’ 12 3-pointers. Jaret Jacubec added 15 points — on five 3-pointers — for Struthers (1-0, 1-0 AAC). The Wildcats trailed by as many as 15 points early in the fourth quarter. Matt DiDonato led the Warriors (1-1, 0-1) with 21 points.

Poland 81, Lakeside 54

POLAND

Jared Burkert led all scorers with 24 pointsand Jacob Burns added 17 as the Bulldogs breezed past the Dragons. Both players had three 3-pointers as Poland made eight of 24 3-point attempts. Isiah Mathers and Jose Ramos each had 13 points for Lakeside, which shot just 17 percent (5 of 30) from 3-point range.

Jefferson 54, Niles 51

JEFFERSON

Cameron Kane-Johnson (35 points, five 3-pointers) was a one-man show for the Red Dragons in their opener, but Jefferson (2-0, 1-0 AAC) limited Niles (0-1, 0-1) to just seven points in the fourth quarter. Sam Hitchcock led the Falcons with 18 points and Jacob Adams added 15.

Bristol 54, Valley Christian 18

BRISTOL

Bristol used a 13-0 first quarter to race past Valley Christian. Jack Mitton scored 18 points and Zach McMillion added 12 points for the Panthers.

Crestview 58, Jackson-Milton 38

NORTH JACKSON

Alex Wolfe paced Crestview with 18 points and Aaron Muntean hit three 3-pointers on his way to 11 points as the Rebels defeated Jackson-Milton. The Bluejays were led by Clay Mascarenic’s 11 points.

Heartland Christian 48, Lordstown 41

LORDSTOWN

Kyle Burgess led Heartland Christian with 19 points, while Nate Sommers scored 17 points. Heartland Christian used a 30-14 fourth quarter advtanage to down Lordstown.

Lakeview 54, Maplewood 31

MAPLEWOOD

Chris Muir scored 21 points and Jastise Garrison added 10 for the Bulldogs. Jake Hall led the Rockets with 12.

McDonald 117, United 74

MCDONALD

David Rebraca led the Blue Devils with 25 points and Dylan Portolese added 24. Evan Magill had 19 points while Jake Reckard and Lucas Garland had 13 and 12 respectively. Jake Clark and Caleb Berdine led United with 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Springfield 64, Leetonia 50

SPRINGFIELD

Springfield overcame a 21-9 deficit in the first quarter when Graham Mincher caught fire to finish with 28 points. Shanyne Rhodes led Leetonia with 21 points and Evan Davins added 19.

Wellsville 66, Lowellville 65

LOWELLVILLE

Justin Miller had 30 points as the Tigers avenged a tournament loss to the Rockets. Lowellville got a double-double (27 points, 11 rebounds) from Cole Beatty. Tyler Barone added 21 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Struthers 64, Lordstown 37

STRUTHERS

Alexis Bury scored 19 points, Michelle Buser had 15 points on five 3-pointers and Caitlin Kane added nine in the Wildcats’ victory Monday.
