Symphonette, youth orchestra plan concert

YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Stephen Gage and assisted by Richard Smrek, and the Youngstown Symphony Symphonette, under the baton of Michele Prokop, will present a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at Powers Auditorium, downtown.
The 48-member Symphonette string ensemble, with accompanist Karen Lyn Fisher, pianist, and Nico Ruggieri, percussionist, will open the program with Meyer’s “Night Shift,” “The Hornpipe” from Handel’s “Water Music,” the Finale from the William Tell Overture by Rossini, and others.
The Youth Orchestra portion of the program will feature Anthony Fimognari, youth orchestra senior concerto competition winner, performing the Allegro movement from the Carl Maria Von Weber Clarinet Concerto No. 2 in E-flat. Fimognari is a senior at Lowellville High School.
The youth orchestra will perform the Russian Festival Overture by Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel’s Pavane “Une Infant Defunte,” and the final movement from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.
