State Supreme Court orders Ohio city to produce records

COLUMBUS (AP) — The Ohio Supreme Court has ordered a suburban Cleveland city to hand over any remaining public records to a woman with a long-standing request for them and to pay her $600 in damages.

The case involves a 2013 request to South Euclid by Emilie DiFranco for financial records related to several city-owned properties, legal spending and overtime payments, among other records.

DiFranco sued last year over records she claimed she still hadn’t received, including some related to the cost of snow removal for some city properties.

The Supreme Court’s 6-1 ruling today rejected arguments by South Euclid that it had already turned over thousands of documents to DiFranco and that her intent was to obtain financial damages rather than the documents.
