Christmas gala planned Sunday

The annual Christmas gala is planned from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 348 Robbins Ave.

There will be a gift basket raffle and bake sale with cookies and candy.

Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children and free for those 5 and younger. Tickets will be available at the door.

Proceeds will benefit the Community Outreach Food Program.

Christmas event set at Byzantine Center

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 1898 Wilson Ave., will present a “A Christmas Celebration” event Dec. 12 at the Byzantine Center at the Grove, 3801 Shady Run Road.

The event, open to the public, will begin with Divine Liturgy at 3 p.m. followed by a dinner at 4 p.m., a visit by St. Nicholas with gifts for the children, a live concert by The Singing Revilak Family from Slovakia and an open dance floor.

There also will be a basket raffle, bake sale and poinsettia sale.

The Singing Revilak Family, originally from Bardejov in Eastern Slovakia, has performed a varied folk song repertoire on European, Canadian and American stages for 25 years, receiving numerous awards in competitions throughout Slovakia.

Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for children 6 to 12 and free for those 5 and younger.
