UPDATE | Catholic Charities issues a statement on St. Vincent de Paul dining hall temporary closure
YOUNGSTOWN — Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Youngstown issued a statement this morning on the temporary closure of the St. Vincent de Paul Society dining hall in downtown Youngstown.
The Rev. David Bergner, diocesan vicar for social concerns, will meet with the local leadership of the society “to determine a way forward with the goal to re-open the Society's dining hall as soon as possible,” the statement says.
The diocese has no authority over the society. It operates as an independent charity.
The soup kitchen, located at 208 E. Front St., was closed Monday due to "personnel issues." It serves anywhere from 200 to 250 meals for lunch during the week.
