Akron Children’s to host Christmas event

“A Children’s Holiday” tree lighting and seventh anniversary celebration will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market St.

A ceremonial ground breaking for the $18.6 million building expansion project on the campus also will take place during the event.

The event is free and open to the public, and will feature cocoa, cookies, carols and the lighting of the children’s holiday tree at 6 p.m.

Santa Claus will visit, and there will be gifts for all children. Activities will include face painting, crafts, and cookie and ornament decorating.

Humane Society offers pictures with Santa

COLUMBIANA

Humane Society of Columbiana County will sponsor a photos with Santa event from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at The Pet Hydrant, 514 E. Park Ave.

Children and pets are welcome.

Presale tickets at $8 each will offer a photo with Santa and a swag bag valued at $25; tickets at the door will be $10. Children under age 10 enter for free.

Microchipping for pets is available at the event for a one-time fee of $20. Refreshments and a boxed hot dog lunch will be available, vendors will provide free samples and treats, and there will be a Christmas basket raffle.

Adoptable pets from the Humane Society will be present.
