Trumbull elections board rejects Goodman's candidacy challenge

WARREN — The Trumbull County Board of Elections has rejected the challenge to the candidacy of independent candidate for Warren law director Jeff Goodman.

The board met in executive session this morning and emerged to vote 4-0 to reject all of the three reasons given to by two Warren residents as to why Goodman should not be allowed on the ballot.

The reasons had to do with Goodman having changed his voting address just before he submitted his nominating petitions in May and whether that misled the people who signed his petitions.

Goodman said he never doubted that the board would rule in his favor and called the Aug. 12 hearing that resulted from the challenge a “distraction that didn’t benefit anyone.”

Goodman will face incumbent law director Greg Hicks, a Democrat, in the November election.
