Officials rescue 7 cats from Boardman apartment

BOARDMAN — Animal Charity Humane Society took custody of seven cats that township police found unattended at a Schenley Avenue apartment over the weekend.

Police responded to the residence Saturday after someone who knew there were animals inside reported an odor coming from the apartment, according to a police report.

Police found a cat and six kittens inside, without food or water. Police also reported that the apartment was full of trash, and that the cats' litter box was overflowing with feces.

At the time of the report, police could not make contact with the tenant.
