Man realizes guitars were stolen when he sees one for sale on eBay

AUSTINTOWN — A man discovered five of his guitars worth about $20,000 were stolen after seeing one of them on eBay.

A resident of New Road filed a police report early Friday with township police about the theft. He discovered the guitars missing, which he stores in his home, were taken sometime between Oct. 2013 and July 2015. He said that one day about that time frame he found a rear door to his home slightly open and nothing appeared missing, a police report said.

The resident noticed a guitar that looked like his on eBay, discovered the guitars missing and called police. Township police spoke with Austintown Pawn, the eBay seller, and confirmed it was the resident’s guitar.

The resident listed approximate values of his stolen guitars were $12,000, $1,200, $1,000, $2,500 and $4,000.

Township detectives are investigating the theft.
